Effect of Axle Overloading on Pavement Structural Behaviour with Improved Clayey Subgrade Using PET Fibres

Clayey subgrade soils are considered to have a lower bearing capacity, which may develop early pavement failure due diverse axle loading. To avoid such issues, these must be treated prior the beginning of construction work. In recent past, soil stabilization with plastic waste has become popular reduce and improve behaviour. The current study aimed use polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles clayey for construction. PET fibre content varied between 1% 5% by weight dry investigate its influence on compaction, California ratio (CBR), unconfined compressive strength (UCS), tri-axial shear strength. modified matrix was further stabilized using Terrasil (0.1%) in order properties ageing. Overall, addition structural behaviour flexible under loading conditions evaluated Finite Element (FE) techniques. model is computationally implemented ANSYS terms surface deflection, vertical stress strain layer, maximum bituminous tensile at base layer standard overloading 1.25 1.5 times. test results indicated that fibres significantly increases CBR, UCS, internal friction angle decreases compaction characteristics. can result significant reduction thickness. FE analysis compare rutting performance show reduces life.
